![]() ![]() The simple fact that I have carried this and used it on a daily basis and it still looks new is really impressive. Overall: I am very tough on my notebooks and it is hard to find one that holds up to everything that I can throw at it. The bonus of the company planting a tree helps with the price as well. Value: The notebook retails for $18 USD which is a great price for a solidly built, portable, notebook that is fountain pen friendly. But, none of the inks feathered and they stayed true to their line width and the Organics Studio showed off a wonderful sheen. The marker bled through pretty consistently. ![]() Each medium tested except the pencil and highlighter showed signs of ghosting. I used a TWSBI Eco with a 1.1 stub nib filled with Organics Studio Ernest Hemingway, a TWSBI Eco with an extra-fine nib filled with Pelikan Mandarin, a TWSBI Eco in fine with Papier Plume Bootlegger’s Scarlett Letter, a Kaweco Dia 2 extra-fine with Monteverde Sapphire, a Papermate Sharp Writer #2 Pencil, a black permanent marker, and a yellow Sharpie highlighter. This was to test for bleed through, feathering, and ghosting. Paper: To test the paper, I tried a few inks, pencil, permanent marker, and a highlighter. It still looks like it did the day I took it out of the box. To test out the durability, I carried the Confidant in my workbag over the past few months on a daily basis. The first page has an inscription box and is made of a thicker paper, just like the last page. There is a thin yellow ribbon bookmark which adds a nice pop of contrast to the gray cover. The journal has a cloth hardback cover and the corners are slightly rounded giving it a nice finished appearance. The journals are comprised of 192 pages of acid-free, fine grain paper, which is archive quality. One of my favorite things is that the company is ecologically forward thinking, for each Confidant sold, Baron Fig plants a tree. The last 12 pages of each book are perforated, allowing easy removal when you need to tear out a page. The notebooks are designed to lay flat which allows you to easily write on the entire page up to the spine. Lastly, the pages are available in blank, dotgrid, or lined. They offer multiple colors light gray, charcoal, blue slate, fig wine, and yellowgold. Finally, closing out the list at number ten - right where it was on the last list of 2018 - is one of Strategist beauty writer Rio Viera-Newton’s holy grail serums.Design: The Confidant is available in three sizes Pocket (3.5in x 5in), Flagship (5.4in x 7.7in), and Plus (7in x 10in). Next up, there’s an affordable, professional-grade blender (perhaps you’re starting the year with some healthy smoothies and green juices), and a baby swaddle new parents swear by. Sixth and seventh place go to two products designed to help you sleep - blue-light blocking glasses and an airplane footrest, respectively. A fancy lube last seen on the list back in October returns to take the fourth-place spot, while a Strategist editor-beloved natural deodorant appears for the first time at number five. Our top three items are all new additions - a weighted blanket designed to ease anxiety, the top-rated pen in our ranking of 100 pens, and a guided planner for tackling a new year of goals. In this week’s list, the first of 2019, we see a mix of old favorites returning and new products making their debuts. Think of this as the tl dr of the Strategist: If your like-minded brethren are buying these items, maybe you’d like to, too. Welcome back to Your Shopping Cart, wherein we break out the top ten products that you, devoted Strategist readers, bought in droves lately. ![]()
